How to use this calculator
Lower L/100 km means less fuel consumed. For km/L and mpg, a higher number means more distance from the same fuel.
US gallons and imperial gallons are different sizes. Always identify the standard before comparing mpg figures. Unit conversion does not adjust for different driving test cycles.
The formula
km/L = 100 ÷ (L/100 km). US mpg = 235.214583 ÷ (L/100 km). Imperial mpg = 282.480936 ÷ (L/100 km).
A worked example
6.5 L/100 km is approximately 15.38 km/L, 36.19 US mpg or 43.46 imperial mpg.
