How to use this calculator

This form estimates a rectangular floor. For irregular rooms, split the floor into rectangles and combine their areas when planning your purchase.

Whole-pack rounding can mean buying more than the waste-adjusted target. Material cost excludes fitting, underlay, trims and delivery. Diagonal or patterned layouts may need more waste allowance.

The formula

Area = length × width. Required area = area × (1 + waste ÷ 100). Packs = required area ÷ pack coverage, rounded up. Cost = packs × pack price.

A worked example

A 5 m × 4 m room needs 22 m² with 10% waste. Ten packs covering 2.2 m² each cost 350 at 35 per pack.

Common questions

Why are packs rounded up?

A partial final pack must usually be purchased in full to cover the whole floor.
