How to use this calculator
Use the same unit for both quantities. For example, convert 1 kg to 1,000 g before comparing it with a pack labeled in grams.
Compare total usable quantities, including all items in a multipack. A lower unit cost does not account for quality or unused product, so consider how much you actually need.
The formula
Unit price = pack price ÷ quantity. Saving = (higher unit price − lower unit price) ÷ higher unit price × 100.
A worked example
A costs 6 for 500 g: 0.012 per gram. B costs 8 for 750 g: about 0.010667 per gram. B is about 11.11% cheaper per unit.
